Air Eau de Parfum — carbon-neutral perfume

Carbon emissions, a negative byproduct of many industries, are the greenhouse gas most responsible for climate change.

Until world leaders agree on how to limit emissions, there is another option: capturing and reusing CO2. It has shown promise for the Air Company, a four-year-old startup that uses carbon dioxide in all of its products. Their latest creation is Air Eau de Parfum. It is the first fragrance made mostly from air.



Perfumery uses an alcohol base, which, when combined with a small amount of water and a measured amount of aromatic oil, turns into a substance that we spray on "pulse points" to emit any scent we desire.

Ethyl alcohol (or ethanol) is most widely used because it is uganda number data inexpensive, has a neutral odor, and evaporates quickly, making it an effective means of diluting aromatic oil.

The Air Company can convert carbon dioxide into a very pure form of ethanol. And by adding water and essential oils, you get a perfume made mostly of air.

“We believe that a product is one of the best ways to tell people about a much more important issue, and that issue is climate change,” said Gregory Konstantin, the company’s founder and CEO. “With products that you can touch, it’s easier for people to understand the power of technology and what can be done with our carbon conversion tool.”

This technology was developed by Stafford Sheehan, founder and CTO of Air Company. Having met in 2017, Dr. Sheehan and Konstantin joined forces to convert the most common greenhouse gas (CO2) into products that are harmless to the planet.

Air Eau de Parfum is the company's third consumer product. It all started in 2019 with alcohol - vodka, and then, in 2020, the year of the pandemic, the company released its sanitizer.

The scent itself was formulated and blended by Joya Studio, a Brooklyn-based design studio specializing in custom perfumes. Fresh and clear, it resembles a ray of sunshine breaking through a cloud, with a hint of sea spray.
