First Divine During Leveling—Hands Literally Shaking!

Post by PhantomBreeze »

I’ll never forget the moment it dropped. I was just leveling my character through the Act 6 Coast in Path of Exile 2 when, out of nowhere, a Divine Orb popped out from a rare monster. My hands were literally shaking. I’d been playing for just a few hours that day, mostly focused on getting through the acts quickly, and suddenly I was holding one of the most valuable pieces of PoE 2 currency in the game.

If you’re new to PoE 2 or just haven’t had much luck with currency drops, let me tell you—getting a Divine Orb during leveling is rare, but not impossible. And when it happens, it can completely change your early-game experience.

Let’s talk about why Divine Orbs matter. In PoE 2, Divine Orbs are used to reroll the values of modifiers on a piece of gear. That means if you have a strong unique or rare item with the perfect affixes but low rolls, you can use a Divine to maximize its power. Because of this, Divine Orbs are one of the most sought-after PoE 2 currency items out there.

So how do you maximize your chances of getting one while leveling? Here are some tips that worked for me:

1. Prioritize Rare and Magic Monster Packs

Even during leveling, don't just zoom through every zone. If you see a pack of blue (magic) or yellow (rare) monsters, take a moment to clear them. They have higher drop rates for valuable currency, including Chaos Orbs, Exalted Shards, and Divine Orbs. In my case, the Divine dropped from a rare monster near a shrine. Always check for shrines too—they buff monster drops.

2. Use Strongboxes, Especially Currency Boxes

If you come across a Strongbox labeled "Currency Strongbox" or one with added item quantity, make sure to pop it after clearing the surrounding area. Upgrade it with an Orb of Alchemy and quality it with Engineers Orbs if you have them. Even while leveling, these boxes can shower you with orbs. I once got three Chaos Orbs from one in Act 7.

3. Don’t Ignore League Mechanics

In PoE 2, mechanics like Expedition, Harvest, or Delirium can appear during leveling. Engage with them whenever you can. Expedition especially has been amazing for early PoE 2 currency generation. I got multiple lesser currency types and remnants of chaos which I later traded up.

4. Know When to Trade

When I got my Divine Orb, I decided not to use it immediately. Instead, I went to u4gm, a site where I often buy PoE 2 currency when I need a quick boost. There, I checked how much Divine Orbs were trading for and realized I could swap mine for a bunch of Chaos Orbs and some gear upgrades. That helped me push through the rest of the campaign faster than expected.

5. Favorite Farming Zones During Leveling

Some acts have better drop efficiency. For example:

Act 5 Control Blocks: High density and lots of rares.

Act 7 The Causeway: Packed with monsters and side paths.

Act 9 The Quarry: Great for farming in early maps too.

When leveling new characters, I now rerun these zones for a few extra levels and currency.

Bonus Tip: Watch for Shards

Keep every Alteration Shard, Alchemy Shard, and Transmutation Shard. Stack them in your stash. Later, these convert into useful orbs that fuel crafting. Even something like an Orb of Binding can go for a good trade depending on the league economy.

In the end, getting your first Divine Orb is a thrill. It’s a sign that your journey into the economy of PoE 2 has really begun. Whether you use it to craft, sell it for bulk currency, or hoard it for later—remember that every drop counts. And if the RNG gods aren’t kind, don’t worry—you can always buy PoE 2 currency from trusted sources to keep your build moving. Just make sure you're spending smart, and never waste a Divine on bad gear!

Good luck out there, Exile—and may your next Divine come even sooner!
