The festival returned to a huge number of performers

Post by ahad1020 »

In 2007, the festival returned to a huge number of performers, which led to a new audience record: 9,100 paying fans and 1,400 guests and free ticket holders. However, they did not want to make this public. An audience of over 10,000 people over the course of one weekend was something incomprehensible. Still, the area attracted a good number of people and the services worked. In addition, there were probably 2,000 people in the nearby forest who had no intention of coming to the area but were there out of curiosity or just hanging out or getting drunk. If the theme last year was heavier rock, this time it was female rock. The performers included Irina, Tiktak, Micragirls, Maija Vilkkumaa, Maria Hänninen and PMMP. There were enough coincidences and events. Neljä Ruusua cancelled and was quickly replaced by CMX, for which Kontiainen is eternally grateful to the band. Another cancellation was imminent, as Popeda's gig was in danger. Mustajärvi had fallen asleep and wasn't going to come, but festival manager Kontiainen managed to persuade him, and when they managed to arrange a ride, Mustajärvi came anyway. However, they had to swap PMMP and Popeda's places in the schedules. This way, the music could be played all the time.

At this point, Kontiainen's mind began to weigh on him. The festival, which had been run by one man, was starting to get out of hand and no longer seemed meaningful. And there was no way he could afford to hire an assistant. Of course, there were 140 security guards and 72 officials at the event, as well as builders who started construction overseas data four days before the event. All advance work from every area went through Kontiainen. There was plenty of routine and professionalism, and relationships were good with all the venues. Not least for the bands, because every year Kontiainen was able to bargain down prices very quickly. Still, he began to feel that "this is what I want to do every summer". The man had not had a summer holiday since the summer of 1999, and all the summers passed like one big binge. He didn't have much time to enjoy the summer.

The festival garnered praise from all sides, received more publicity than ever and was voted 10th in the Puustock Rumba magazine's Festival of the Year series. The poster for Puustock featured Olli Lindholm from Yön. As usual, the festival buses ran from Mikkeli, Savonlinna and Varkaus. A record was set in the direction of Mikkeli, as no fewer than six buses brought people from Mikkeli on both days. Usually 4-5 buses came from there. One bus a day ran from Savonlinna and Varkaus, and that was more than enough.
